Callawegian STITCHERY
What in the world is a Callawegian? I hear that from time to time. In a nutshell, If you have ever lived, learned, worked or played ball in Callaway County Missouri, you are a Callawegian. To be a Native Callawegian, you have to be born here.
"Missourians, and Callawegians in particular, are a fiercely independent people, agrarian in nature and passionately religious in temperament, who were clearly willing to maintain their independence and way of life by force of arms, if necessary."Ovid Bell, Short History of Callaway County (Fulton MO:The Fulton Gazette, 1913) 27.
My wife and I were born in Callaway County back when Richard Nixon was President. Went to school with 30 kids in the class, in a small agricultural town with a population of less than 500. We had 2 Gas Stations, a Bank, a Lion's Club, four Churches and of course a pubic School. I joined the Army at 17 and stuck with it for 27 years. In the Army, I was a Mechanic, Machinist, and Instructor. After a trip to Afghanistan I was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood as the Chief Instructor at the Regional Training Site - Maintenance. I retired in 2013 as a Master Sergeant and moved back home. Bought a farm and married my wonderful Christian wife that I went to school with, we are carving a life out together putting God first in our lives. My wife owned Missouri Rural Services Corp. An Insurance brokerage started by her father, and family owned until 2022. Callaway County Missouri has always been our home no matter where life has taken us.
Growing up rural was very conducive to my passion of hunting, shooting, fishing, bushcrafting and the outdoors lifestyle. My love for hunting has taken me on various hunting trips all over the United States. I had built my first Anorak in 1995, hand sewn one stitch at a time. Many years of field testing various materials, fabrics and designs, I decided to start Callawegian STITCHERY which sparked a new line of men's outerwear. After a lifetime of testing fabrics, I have found what works...Wool & Canvas
